(Parents' and Friends' Society of the John F. Kennedy School)

The Verein, founded shortly after the opening of the German-American Community School in 1962, is a private, nonprofit organization of JFKS parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends working together to support the high-quality learning environment at JFKS. Supplementing the JFKS funds received from Berlin's already overextended state education budget, the Verein enhance the students' preparedness for a global future by meeting the special needs of the school's unique bilingual and bicultural educational program. For example, it provides critical funding for—

1. ín-school computer and Internet development,
2. musical instrument supply and repair,
3. library books and facilities,
4. Odyssey of the Mind and BERMUN,
5. renovation of stage and lighting equipment for the drama department, and
6. enhancement of the quality of school life through Peer Helping, conflict resolution, and nonviolent behavior programs.
