Welcome back! We hope you and your families had a wonderful summer break filled with rest, fun, and special memories. We are excited to welcome everyone back to school on Monday and begin the 2026–2027 school year together!

As we start a new school year, we would like to remind our students of the importance of kindness, respect, and inclusion. We encourage everyone to celebrate each other’s differences, look out for one another, and make an effort to welcome new students and families into our community. Every member of the JFKS community plays an important role in creating a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and that they truly belong.

We will be talking with students about these expectations as we begin the year, and your support and reinforcement at home make a meaningful difference. Thank you for partnering with us to help make JFKS a welcoming and caring community for all.

Please be sure to read through the bulletin that was sent to all parents on Tuesday. If you did not receive it, please send an email to the ES or HS office. We are still working on updating all the mailing list while late admission is ongoing. Thank you for your patience.

Elementary School: 

All students in grades 1-6 should be at school between 7:30 and 7:55. Please see this map with the meeting area for each grade level.

Students in grades 1, 3 and 5 will meet their new teachers in the designated areas who will have lists for each class.

Please note, parents are to bring their student to the front or back gates but are not to come on campus. We will have many teachers on campus to be sure they get to the right place and find their teachers!

As a reminder, the school day ends at 13:20 for students in grades 1 and 2, at 14:10 for students in grades 3 and 4, and at 15:00 for students in grades 5 and 6. Of course, students who go to Hort or Late Birds will go there at dismissal.

High School: 

Regular instruction in the High School begins on Monday, August 17, 2026, with the following schedule:

Berlin Model United Nations (BERMUN) is a large conference taking place at our school in November with over 800 participants. Every year, hundreds of students come from all over the world, and our school community offers some of them the opportunity to stay with host families to minimize the costs for the participants.

We are in need of about 70 beds!

Hosting someone really is not a lot of work on your part, and it’s a great opportunity to get to know these students - and if you are not involved in BERMUN, this may help you find out a little bit more about the program and conference. Host families will also receive an invitation to the BERMUN dance for their child (if they are a HS student who is not participating in BERMUN).

The conference is November 18-21 (Wed-Sat) but host families are needed up to a day before and until the day after. There is NO regular instruction during BERMUN due to Teacher Workshop Days.

BERMUN will be represented at the HS parent evenings and at the Info Fair in case you have questions before registering.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent passing of Ann Goedicke, who taught Home Economics, Business Math, Basic and Advanced Accounting, Keyboarding, and Single Living for juniors and seniors at JFKS from 1972 to 1998.

Those of us who were fortunate enough to attend one of her classes will always remember her endless patience, her sense of humor, her kindness—and, of course, baking our very first batch of homemade cookies with her.

Ann’s dedication to the JFKS community extended far beyond the classroom. As both a teacher and a parent, she played an active role in shaping school life. She founded the National Honor Society at JFKS and served as its faculty advisor until 1998. In 1980, she was part of the parent team that organized the very first JFKS Fun Day, an event that has since become one of our community’s cherished biennial traditions.

In addition, Ann managed the School Shop for many years together with student helpers, giving them valuable hands-on experience in running a small business. She also accompanied numerous 11th-grade class trips to the United States, creating lasting memories for generations of students.

The funeral service will be held for close family and friends only. A memorial celebration is planned for a later date.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband, Peter, and to her children, Christina, Natalie, and Philipp.
