Creating community in Berlin and around the world since 1960

JFKS is a unique public school of 1600+ German and American students in Entrance Class through Grade 12.

We are dedicated to providing a German-American bicultural, bilingual education of the highest quality in Berlin.

Learning at JFKS is about making meaningful connections and building on the creativity of our students. Teachers serve as facilitators for the lifelong learning process of our students. Using bicultural, bilingual and problem-based methods, teachers and students engage in an inspiring learning process.

Like all JFKS educational programs, the entrance class is designed to enhance learning and social development in a bilingual and bi-cultural environment.

Elementary School

Early immersion in the partner culture and language as well as extracurricular programs that support musical, athletic, and academic development during lunch and after school hours.

Our academically rigorous curriculum draws from both the American and German educational traditions, with the shared goal of fostering respect, tolerance, and cross-cultural understanding.

Berlin Model United Nations (BERMUN) is a large conference taking place at our school in November with over 800 participants. Every year, hundreds of students come from all over the world, and our school community offers some of them the opportunity to stay with host families to minimize the costs for the participants.

We are in need of about 70 beds!

Hosting someone really is not a lot of work on your part, and it’s a great opportunity to get to know these students - and if you are not involved in BERMUN, this may help you find out a little bit more about the program and conference. Host families will also receive an invitation to the BERMUN dance for their child (if they are a HS student who is not participating in BERMUN).

The conference is November 18-21 (Wed-Sat) but host families are needed up to a day before and until the day after. There is NO regular instruction during BERMUN due to Teacher Workshop Days.

BERMUN will be represented at the HS parent evenings and at the Info Fair in case you have questions before registering.

IN MEMORIAM: Ann Goedicke

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent passing of Ann Goedicke, who taught Home Economics, Business Math, Basic and Advanced Accounting, Keyboarding, and Single Living for juniors and seniors at JFKS from 1972 to 1998.

Those of us who were fortunate enough to attend one of her classes will always remember her endless patience, her sense of humor, her kindness—and, of course, baking our very first batch of homemade cookies with her.

Ann’s dedication to the JFKS community extended far beyond the classroom. As both a teacher and a parent, she played an active role in shaping school life. She founded the National Honor Society at JFKS and served as its faculty advisor until 1998. In 1980, she was part of the parent team that organized the very first JFKS Fun Day, an event that has since become one of our community’s cherished biennial traditions.

In addition, Ann managed the School Shop for many years together with student helpers, giving them valuable hands-on experience in running a small business. She also accompanied numerous 11th-grade class trips to the United States, creating lasting memories for generations of students.

The funeral service will be held for close family and friends only. A memorial celebration is planned for a later date.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband, Peter, and to her children, Christina, Natalie, and Philipp.

Advanced Placement

The AP Program at JFKS offers students the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams, preparing them for university study while earning internationally recognized academic credentials.

BERMUN

Our Model United Nations (MUN) program provides students with the opportunity to engage in international diplomacy, debate, and collaborative problem-solving through a simulation of the United Nations. By participating in MUN, students strengthen their public speaking, leadership, research, and critical-thinking skills while gaining a deeper understanding of global challenges. JFKS hosts two conferences each year, bringing together over 850 students who take on a variety of roles, including delegates, student officers, technology support, administrative and press teams.

Bilingual Continuity

Bilingual education in English and German is woven into every grade level and a cornerstone of the JFKS curriculum.
