The John F. Kennedy School is a Berlin public school and, therefore, does not charge tuition.

Admission to the Entrance Class and grades 1-12 is contingent upon the applicant being registered as living with Berlin’s city limits (see Admissions Regulations). For applicants moving to Berlin, proof of residency in Berlin must be submitted before the first day of school. 

Entrance Class: The lottery takes place in April. Afterwards, letters with the lottery results are sent to all applicant families.

Grades 1-6: We will begin admissions in May. Selected applicants will be admitted for all available spaces until summer break. In case of withdrawals/no-shows or applicants failing the language tests, more spaces may become available once school begins and we will continue late admission in August. 

Grades 7-12: Admissions letters for High School students (grades 7-12) will be sent out by the end of May

All applications are valid and will be considered for late admission until September 30.

Currently, we do not offer school tours, in-person meetings or open house events. Please contact our staff at welcome@jfksberlin.org if you have specific questions.

Younger Children who are not ready yet to use public transportation by themselves or students who live in less accessible areas, have the option to use the private school bus service:

This is a private bus company, any contract agreed upon for transporting children to and from school remains strictly between the parents and the bus company.

No, the John F. Kennedy School does not have boarding facilities.

Students applying to Grades 1 through 12 have to be fluent in English, but not in German. 

You may list JFKS as one of the three desired schools you are wishing to attend, however, listing JFKS does not have any affect on the admission process and does not guarantee admission.

Yes, JFKS offers accommodations for students with special needs. Please visit JFKS Student Support Services for more details.

Students work towards the German Abitur, the American High School Diploma with Advanced Placement Program, or towards both. JFKS does not offer the IB program.

JFKS serves families living in different Berlin districts and students use different means of transportation to get to school, depending on their age and area where they live.

Walking or biking: Many of our students walk or ride their bicycles to school. JFKS provides a large number of bicycle racks on the school campus.

Public Transportation: Berlin public transportation is safe and reliable. JFKS is conveniently located close to bus and train stops. Students in Berlin can apply for a free public transportation pass!
